Hydro Excavation & Potholing

Hydro excavating is the safest, most cost-effective and environmentally friendly method of excavating in the industry today.

Hydro Excavation & Potholing from 406 Underground

Pressurized water breaks up the soil, and a vacuum conveys it into a debris tank. It's a non-destructive way to safely locate utilities and precisely excavate an area.

Our daylighting crews use the right equipment to uncover or confirm the location of utilities with ease, improving project safety and productivity and lowering costs compared with traditional excavation.

What we do

  • Daylighting and potholing utilities
  • Locating utility crossings before boring
  • Hydro-excavated trenching near existing lines
  • Holes for power poles, telecom poles, traffic signals, light standards, signs and fence posts
  • Sewer and storm system clean-out and debris removal

How it works

Mark

Lines are marked by the locate service and the dig points are chosen.

Expose

Water and vacuum remove soil without striking the line.

Verify

Depth and position are confirmed before the bore or trench goes in.

Restore

Holes are back-filled or left open for the next crew.

Why it pays

  • No damage to existing lines
  • Precise, small excavations
  • Safer around gas, power and fiber

“The crews not only provide accurate bores, but also take responsibility for their actions and clean up after themselves without being asked when leaving a jobsite. Four O Six is also proactive in locating utility crossings… Montana owned and operated, this company has a family touch to it and it shows in their desire to do a good job at a minimal cost.”
