HDD & directional drilling consulting in Canada
HDD and directional drilling consulting for jobs in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario — on your job site or remote by phone and video.
Directional drilling consulting in Canada
Montana borders Alberta and BC, and a lot of the ground and weather is the same on both sides of the line: cobble, rock, deep frost and short seasons.
A team of consultants can review profiles and bids, help with production planning on fibre and utility builds, and troubleshoot problem bores — on your site or by video, working alongside the local engineer and contractor of record.
What we can help with
The same consulting we offer everywhere, with the local conditions in mind:
Ground conditions
- Alberta. Glacial till and clay, muskeg in the north, and frozen-ground winter work.
- British Columbia. Mountain rock and cobble inland, glacial deposits and wet ground on the coast, and fish-bearing streams.
- Ontario. Soft, sensitive clays in parts of the south and east, and Canadian Shield granite farther north.
General conditions only. Every site is different — send what you know about yours.
Permits & approvals
Each province has its own one-call service, and municipalities, provincial transportation ministries and railways issue their own crossing permits. Fisheries and environmental rules can drive the design of a watercourse crossing. Permits and stamped design stay with the owner, engineer and contractor of record.
Typical crossings
- Highway and municipal road crossings
- Rivers, creeks and fish-bearing streams
- Railways
- Pipeline corridors
- Wetlands and muskeg
Time zones & remote consults
Alberta is on Mountain Time, same as Helena. BC is an hour behind and Ontario two hours ahead, so the workday overlaps everywhere. Video from the rig, the pit or the returns works well for troubleshooting; plans, profiles and bid documents can be reviewed between calls, with written recommendations after each session.
Units & documents
Metric on drawings (metres, millimetres, kPa, L/min), with imperial still common on rigs and tooling — we work in either.
On your job site
We're glad to travel. A consultant can come to your site for planning, troubleshooting or training, working alongside the local engineer and contractor of record — scope and travel costs agreed up front. Consulting is field-experience based and doesn't replace a licensed engineer's stamped design.
