HDD & directional drilling consulting in the Middle East
HDD and directional drilling consulting for Middle East utility and fibre work — on your job site or remote by phone and video.
Directional drilling consulting in the Middle East
Big utility, fibre and infrastructure programmes mean a lot of directional drilling, often in ground and heat that are hard on crews, fluids and tooling.
A team of consultants can help with bore planning, production assumptions on bids, and troubleshooting by video. Consults are in English. We'll come to your site or work it remotely, alongside the local engineer and contractor of record.
There are separate pages for Dubai and the UAE, and for Saudi Arabia and NEOM.
Country pages: HDD consulting in Dubai & the UAE and HDD consulting in Saudi Arabia & NEOM.
What we can help with
The same consulting we offer everywhere, with the local conditions in mind:
Ground conditions
- Desert sand. Loose, dry sand that won't hold a hole without the right fluid.
- Sabkha. Salt flats with shallow, salty groundwater that's hard on fluids and steel.
- Caprock & limestone. Hard layers near the surface over softer ground.
- Heat. Extreme summer heat affects drilling fluid, equipment and crew schedules.
General conditions only. Every site is different — send what you know about yours.
Permits & approvals
Approvals come through the local utility and municipal authorities and can involve several agencies. Those stay with the owner and contractor; we help plan the bore to their requirements.
Typical crossings
- Highway and expressway crossings
- Dense utility corridors in new developments
- Wadis and drainage channels
- Coastal and marine-edge crossings
Time zones & remote consults
The Gulf states are about 10–11 hours ahead of Helena depending on the season. Early-morning calls here reach your afternoon, and photos and video can be reviewed overnight. Video from the rig, the pit or the returns works well for troubleshooting; plans, profiles and bid documents can be reviewed between calls, with written recommendations after each session.
Units & documents
Metric (metres, millimetres, bar or kPa, L/min).
On your job site
We're glad to travel. A consultant can come to your site for planning, troubleshooting or training, working alongside the local engineer and contractor of record — scope and travel costs agreed up front. Consulting is field-experience based and doesn't replace a licensed engineer's stamped design.
